Refunds and Tips

Effective and last updated

The short version

  • WanderRank sells nothing. It's free, with no subscriptions or paid features.
  • Tips are voluntary support, not purchases, and they aren't tax-deductible.
  • Sent a tip by mistake or twice? Email help@davidcartiermedia.com within 30 days and I'll refund it when I can.
  • Anything you buy on a partner site (a hostel, gear, an eSIM, insurance) follows that partner's refund policy.

What WanderRank sells

Nothing. WanderRank is free to use. There are no subscriptions, paid features or digital products, so there's nothing to refund on WanderRank itself.

How tips work

If WanderRank helped you plan a trip, you can leave a tip through Venmo, or through Stripe if card tip links are switched on. Tips are voluntary support for the site. They aren't a purchase: they don't buy anything, unlock features or change rankings. WanderRank isn't a charity, so tips aren't tax-deductible.

Venmo and Stripe handle the payment. I never see your full card number or bank details. The privacy policy explains what they share with me.

Mistaken or duplicate tips

If you sent a tip by mistake, sent the wrong amount or sent it twice, email help@davidcartiermedia.com within 30 days of the tip with:

  • the date of the tip;
  • the amount;
  • how you sent it (Venmo, or a card through Stripe);
  • the name or Venmo username on the payment, so I can find it.

I'll reply within 5 business days. Once I've matched the tip, I'll send the full amount back through the same service when possible. A Venmo refund goes back to your Venmo account. A card refund through Stripe usually takes 5 to 10 business days to show on your statement.

Tips more than 30 days old, or ones that weren't a mistake, generally aren't refunded. If something went wrong anyway, write to me and I'll see what I can do.

Venmo, Stripe and card disputes

Venmo's and Stripe's own dispute processes, and your card issuer's, still apply, whatever this page says. Emailing me first is usually the fastest way to sort out a mistake.

Purchases on partner sites

When you book or buy through a link on WanderRank (a hostel on Hostelworld, gear on Amazon, an eSIM from Holafly or travel insurance from IMG, for example), the sale is between you and that company. Its refund and cancellation policies apply, and refunds go through it. I can't process refunds for partner purchases, and any commission I earn doesn't change their policies. The affiliate disclosure lists the partners.
