Effective and last updated
I want WanderRank to work for everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom or other assistive technology.
The short version
- The goal is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The site doesn't fully meet it yet, and the known gaps are listed below.
- The interactive map has a place list you can use instead.
- Found a problem? Email help@davidcartiermedia.com and I'll reply within 5 business days.
The goal
WanderRank aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. It doesn't fully meet them yet. The gaps I know about are below, and I'm working through them.
What's been done
- Contrast: text colors were measured and adjusted to meet WCAG AA contrast on the site's dark backgrounds, and buttons use a deeper blue so their white text stays readable.
- Visible focus: when you move around with a keyboard, links, buttons and form fields show a bright blue focus ring.
- Keyboard: everything that opens (menus, dialogs, sheets) is built from real buttons and links. Most dialogs and sheets keep focus inside while open, close with Escape and put focus back where you were.
- Labels: form fields have names that screen readers announce.
- Reduced motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, the site's animations are switched off or toned down.
- A list instead of the map: the places on the map are also in a list you can browse and open by keyboard, and the all destinations and side quests pages list them as plain links.
- Zoom: zooming is never blocked, and pages are built for small phone screens.
Known limitations
- The map itself. The interactive map is drawn as a picture in your browser, so screen readers can't read it. Use the place list next to it, or the all destinations and side quests pages, which between them list the same places.
- Sites I link to. Booking sites, shops and apps are run by other companies, and their accessibility is up to them.
- Pages still being checked. You may still find a contrast, heading or focus problem on some pages. Please tell me, and I'll fix it.
Report a problem
Email help@davidcartiermedia.com. Tell me the page (its address), what you were trying to do and what happened. If you can, add your device, browser and any assistive technology you use.
I'll reply within 5 business days. If I can't fix the problem quickly, I'll get you the information you need another way.
How this was checked
This statement is based on a review in September 2026: automated checks with axe-core and an accessibility code linter, color contrast measurements across the site, keyboard testing, and checks at small screen widths. It was last updated on September 29, 2026.
